About the Event

58% of residents in Guildford think that climate change is a high priority and 75% think that the loss of nature should be one of the most important concerns for the country. The upcoming general election is a chance to demonstrate your views.

Government policy on climate change and the environment not only spans energy supply, land use and biodiversity loss, pollution, public transport and active travel and waste but also affects many other aspects of public life such as the economy, jobs and skills, our health and immigration systems, housing and the resilience of our infrastructure to increased temperatures and rainfall so expect a broad debate.

Zero Carbon Guildford and Guildford Environment Forum will be hosting a hustings for the Guildford seat at Westminster to which all parliamentary candidates have been invited.

We would welcome any questions in advance of the evening, please submit them when signing up for a ticket or email them to mark@zerocarbonguildford.org. Please make the questions open and not directed at one particular candidate.

Parts of Guildford borough are covered by other Westminster constituencies and we will advertise environmental hustings for neighbouring seats if we are informed of them.

Additionally there is another general hustings for Guildford hosted by the University of Surrey on 26th June.
