About the Event
Please join us for a short walk beside the River Wey, followed by a practical conservation
session at Riverside Nature Reserve. Feel free to join either just for the walk, or roll up your
sleeves and grab a bowsaw to help clear willow scrub from the rare fen habitat, and help
preserve this valuable space for its diverse wildlife. Activity will be moderately demanding,
but very rewarding and everyone can work at their own pace. Accessibility limited due to
the nature of the site and may be wet underfoot.
Task: Gentle walk followed by willow clearance from the fen at Riverside Nature Reserve to
preserve fen habitat. This will be carried out with using loppers and bowsaws, followed by a
bonfire if the weather permits. There will be opportunity to talk about this Fen
environment, the Riverside Nature Reserve, and the importance of this conservation work.
A tea break will be included. Join us for fun, active work, with a social element.
