Water Quality Blitz

Come join us for a fun day of testing the water quality of the River Wey Catchment! We're testing for nutrients and E. coli in the region.

Join the Water Rangers and River Wey Trust volunteers at ZERO Guildford to learn how to test river water so we can take a snapshot of our region's waterways!

We're part of a nationwide event called the Great UK Waterblitz by EarthWatch Europe, collecting data for nutrients (phosphate/nitrates) and observational data. PLUS, thanks to #CaSTCo (Catchment Systems Thinking Cooperative castco.org), we're part of a small contingent of groups also testing for E. coli. We've got some field kits, and there's an opportunity for a small number of people to help us out in the to compare field results .

Everyone will have an opportunity to come with us to the river to learn how to test. Groups of volunteers can then also sign up to take more samples out in the field. Spaces for field testing are limited! You’ll learn how to test with us, and then a select group will be assigned locations (near them) around the catchment to test sometime before Monday. Some can also help us process E. coli samples in the ZERO Community Lab.
